Ameen Saleem
Ameen says about his involvement in the Arts...
"I'm a chill, laid back person until I get a bass in my hand... then it's on. Love, love, love music and anything art related. People often ask what kind of music do I play. I respond, "I play bass." All genres are fair game. If I don't know the genre, I'll improvise, listen, and find my way into the groove."
He goes on to say, "Born and raised in DC. Proud of that. I love my city. But I also love to travel. You never know where I'll be. I go a little bit of everywhere through music. The only way to know me really is to meet me or some of my close friends. I have many. I'm a people person. No enemies that I know of."
Ameen graduated from the Duke Ellington School of the Arts in 1997. He went on to attend North Carolina Central University from 1997-2001. He majored in Music Performance, earning a Bachelor's Degree. He performed in the Jazz Ensemble and was Musical Director of the Choir Ball. From 2002-2005, Ameen attended Cuny Queens College in Flushing, New York, earning a Master's Degree, majoring in Music Performance.
