AP Project

The Arcangelo Pezzella Project is not just the name I use to register my recordings; it's my idea of jazz. It has no boundaries; it cannot be strictly confined in a style, a groove, a sound, and not labeled in any way. On the contrary, it blends a world of sounds to create new ones. That is my aim: trying to create new things from old ones, exploring idioms, rules, harmonic choices, grooves and more, and finding new ways to express what I am, feel and think. To do so, the need for incredibly talented and like-minded musicians is of the utmost importance and, luckily, I found them: Guido Foi (piano and keys), Alessandro Petricciuolo (bass), Francesco Pellegrino (drums) and featured artist Angela Addezio (vocals). "Out Of The Blue", shows the results of it: no track is the same, and yet they are linked in unexpected ways, leading the listener from a world to the next one in a smooth and smart way. In conclusion, I want to thank you for reading this and I really wish you will enjoy your musical journey with us. It has just begun.

Out Of The Blue from AP Project is not an usual jazz record nor it tries to imitate the legendary records that we all know and love. It is an experiment; a strong effort to find common ground between disparate styles and yet an ode to jazz tradition with a modern vibe. The AP Project has mixed and served a cocktail with almost eight different flavours coming from different traditions in an exquisite manner. When listening to Out Of The ...

- They are always tasteful. Of course, given the level of musical education that they bring to the studio they make it look easy. And that’s what I love about AP Project: Smooth, beautiful mixes, innovative style and very, very cool grooves. Another point of strength of this work is that every instrument has its own moments, and they are all on the same level of importance. (Jamsphere Magazine - December 2019 Issue)

- The AP Project’s material consists of elaborate and often intricate arrangements, which do allow some room for improvisation, but are full of interesting twists and turns, changes of mood, effective use of dynamics, instrumental colors and can really take one on an imaginary journey of the listener’s own design.
