Attila Korb

Attila KORB was born in 1983 Kecskemét. There’s a huge sum of classical effects on his jazz activities. His first instrument was the violin (from age 6 to 12). Then he started to play the trombone (age 13). In 1996 he had the possibility to sing the boy soprano part in Handel’s Messiah under the conducting of Péter Erdei /later one of his teachers in the Academy/. In the music secondary school his main subject was solfa-music theory. He won 2nd prize in the Zoltán Kodaly Solfa Competition /Debrecen, 2002/. He’s got his diploma in 2007 as a choir conductor-music teacher (Ferenc Liszt Academy Of Music, Budapest). In the same time he went on with the trombone, he studied 3 years in the Jazz Conservatoar /Budapest/ his teachers were Károly Friedrich, László Goz. Meanwhile he bought a cornet…

He founded his own trad. band the Little Jazz Band /as a pianist/ when he was 11. With this formation they got First Prize in the Louis Armstrong Jazz Competition 2003 (Saint-Adresse, Fr.), near by the band’s prize Attila won the composer’s 1st Prize with his song called „Snow”. The Little Jazz Band receved the „Prize of The Town” in the Jazz New Orlaens Compatition 2005/2006 (Saint-Raphael, Fr.).

He just started to play the trombone, in a few months he became the emember of the Bohém Ragtime Jazz Band. With this band he could play in the top jazz festivals in Europe for example: Ascona, Pori, Montreaux, Bude, Oslo, Berlin, Davos, Wolfsburg... With the band they’ve been to the U.S.A. 3 times, plaing in ragtime, jazz, swing and cool festivals.

Since 2004 he’s the music director of the Kecskemét Jazz Orchestra. In the same year they attended to the Hungarian Jazz Society’s Big Band qualification, where they receved „top hat gold diploma” in „A” category.

He is the conductor and arranger of the ALBERTIRSA SIMFONIC WIND BAND. They won 3rd prize, Attila won special prize /for his conducting/ in the Hungarian Music Schools’ Competition 2005.

Since 2005 Attila is the lead trombone player of the Budapest based Modern Art Orchestra - hungary's primary Jazz Orchestra focusing on contemporary hungarian jazz.

He is the winner of the Zsoldos Ernö Jazztrombone Competition organised by the Hungarian State Radio 2007. The first prize contained the possibility to make his first solo CD „The Guy From Kecskemét”.

In 2008 Attila received the Ablakos Lakatos Dezso Jazz Scholarship, and got the ARTISJUS (the hungarian protector of authors' rights) price, because of his activities at the conteporary hungarian jazz scene).
