Foundation of ctraltu in 2012 as a solo project with the influences of jazz in ambient and electronic, acoustic modern music.

Meet Steffen: Ctrl-Alt-U is a project from Thomas Steffen. Born in 1965, Steffen has been a drummer since he was 13 and has studied music science. Steffen has worked in different bands, projects, and film music for Dance 3D Filmfest Barcelona in 2013. Instrument(s): Drums, guitar, bass, sax, trumpet, and others. Teachers and/or influences? “Perfection fascinates, but it also quickly becomes boring. This is how Thomas Steffen sees the jazz world and counters it with his album "Jazzperience" - "music that celebrates the moment". Under the stage name ´´ctrl-alt-u, the Duisburg native produced an unusual jazz album in LoFi acoustics that refrains from technical frills. The pieces work with different rhythms, into which trumpet and saxophone parts are interspersed. In their depth and catchiness, they are reminiscent of film music, but according to the composer they are also suitable as a soundtrack for subway rides.”
