Gustavo Cysne
Brazilian singer, composer, songwriter, pianist and acoustic guitarist.
One of Brazil’s most promising singers and composers in the bossa nova style, Gustavo Cysne has subtle vocals in a breezy mood, that evokes both Antonio Carlos Jobim and Chet Baker, two of Cysne's deepest influences. His first released song, “Chegou Pra Ficar” is a tribute to the endless power of love as well as to the charm of Brazilian women, especially to the sensual appeal of the girls from Ipanema.
Produced by Arnaldo DeSouteiro for the Los Angeles-based label Jazz Station Records (JSR), this song features lovely and charming performances by some of Brazil's greatest musicians like legendary bassist Sergio Barroso (who recorded with Sarah Vaughan, Eumir Deodato, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Edu Lobo, Marcos Valle, Roberto Menescal), drummer Cesar Machado (famous for his sessions with Paquito D'Rivera, Claudio Roditi and Hendrik Meurkens), and flute master Jose Carlos Ramos (Ithamara Koorax, Jorge Ben, Gal Costa and dozens of others).
On his turn, Arnaldo DeSouteiro, who discovered Cysne, is regarded as Brazil's top jazz and bossa nova producer, having worked with João Gilberto, Luiz Bonfá, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Eumir Deodato, João Donato, Ithamara Koorax, Dom Um Romão, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, Sadao Watanabe, Mario Castro-Neves, David Sanborn, Randy Brecker, Claus Ogerman, Marcos Valle, Azymuth and many more.
