Ian Raymond Smit
is…Composer, guitar texturalist for Monkeyworks, e’fessioux, Rick Savage & Beyond Jazz, Sputnik 5, QWERT, Ping, and a bunch of unsuspecting singer/songwriters, still manages to not fall into a neatly packaged musical genre…And, that’s okay!

Gear
Reader’s Rig: Ian Smit | guitar moderne
Since this profile in Guitar Moderne, Pedal board 1 added Mesa Throttle Box and Chass Bliss Reverse Mode C and a smaller Korg tuner, and my friends got me a Hilton Guitar Pro volume pedal for my birthday a while back (Nice)! I have replaced pedal board 3 with Eventide H90, Hologram Microcosm, Glou-Glou Loupe. Strymon Nightsky. I added pedal board 4 with Hologram Infinite Jets, Meris Hydra, Chase Bliss Habit, Blooper and Dark World, Dwarfcraft Ghost Fax, Empress Echosystem.
I no longer lug around the Rack, so these pedals take its place. When recording at home, I can integrate all this gear, and Pedal board 4 goes through a Fryette Power Station. I also have added some smaller amps Fender '57 Custom Deluxe Tweed, a Mesa 20/20 California Tweed, Fender Blues Jr. NOS, Fender Silverface Champ.
As stated in the article above, it is most important to know when and when not to use all of that stuff. It provides color and options, which is helpful to most all of my projects. If I had to: "All I need is this (volume pedal) and this (overdrive), that's all I need...and this astray, and this paddle game...and this remote control, that's all I need"!
