Iming Lin

Iming Lin is a classically trained, jazz saxophonist and composer, from Taipei, Taiwan. His musical journey began when he was six years old, when his parents decided to enroll him for piano lessons in the hopes that music would calm and discipline this boisterous, energetic six-year old boy. Few years later, Lin picked up the saxophone at the age of ten when his music teacher introduced him to wind concert band. Lin went on to study classical saxophone at Chinese Culture University and Shih Chien University. He won the Shih Chien University Concerto Competition in 2009 and performed Paul Creston “Concerto for Alto Saxophone” with Shih Chien University Orchestra at Taipei ZongShan Hall. During his junior year, Lin attended a jazz music camp in Taipei and he completely fascinated with the harmonies the melodies and language of jazz. After graduating from Shih Chien University, Lin was conscripted to serve the army, where he played tenor saxophone in the National Defense Symphony Orchestra. After completing military service in 2013, Lin received the scholarship to attend Berklee college of Music to continue his jazz studies and graduated in 2017 with a Diploma in Jazz Performance. At same year, Lin received the scholarship from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and graduated in 2019 with a Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies.

Lin has featured on 3 tracks with the University of the Arts Graduate Jazz ensemble album “Lyric Motion” which released in 2019 spring and he has released his first solo album ’’The Road Ahead” in August 2019.
