Kim Simmonds
Kim has launched his own label, Panache Records, with this instrumental CD. Known as the founder and continuing leader of the legendary blues/rock band Savoy Brown and with a star on the Rock Walk Of Fame, Kim Simmonds is recognized globally as one of the world's finest guitar players.
On JAZZIN' ON THE BLUES Kim shows off his acoustic playing with a beautiful mix of jazz and blues. He plays Guitar, Harmonica and Bass on the album. Kim wrote all the tunes except for tasty covers of She's A Woman (Lennon/McCartney) True Blue (Doggett/Butler) and Shop Around (Robinson/Gordy)
The cover of JAZZIN' ON THE BLUES is a painting by Mr. Simmonds entitled Musician In Blue. Percussion on the album by Ron Keck
Kim & Savoy Brown also have a #1 Billboard Blues CD entitled Witchy Feelin' (Ruf) released August 26th 2017

Savoy Brown: Blues All Around
by Doug Collette
In keeping with this Savoy Brown album title, Blues All Around, Juan Junco's front cover photo looks like one of those rare painting that captures the essence of its subject. It is a ghostly apparition of an image, with the late guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Kim Simmonds shown wringing notes from a Gibson Flying-V, immersed in the emotion(s) of the moment. As such, it's an ideal summation of the creative process behind this forty-second album by the seminal blues-rock band that originated in ...

Kim Simmonds might not be quite as highly regarded in the contemporary blues milieu as The Godfather of British Blues," John Mayall, but the former's forty-first album under the Savoy Brown monicker suggests he ought to be. After all, Simmonds did mentor three members of Foghat, among other stalwarts of the the British blues boom of the late Sixties. And like Mayall, Simmonds has followed a similar path of regular touring and recording, more often than not retaining the moniker of the band he started, Savoy Brown, as on this self-produced , independent work in a ...
Continue ReadingI just had the opportunity to review the most recent release, Jazzin' On The Blues, from Kim Simmonds, and it's quite good. Simmonds, well known front man for Savoy Brown, takes an occasional break from his band and does individual projects and this is a fine instrumental one. Opening with Dancing On A Memory, a smooth instrumental ballad, Simmonds accompanies himself on rhythm guitar as he plays fluid lead melody. Lightly salted blues riffs make this a grand opener. Theme For Deborah has a Latin percussion line thanks to Ron Keck and Simmonds dances across the strings
