Lawrence Peryer

Longtime music industry executive who relocated to the PNW from New York City in 2016. Host of the award-winning podcast Spotlight On, featuring the musicians, writers, innovators and ideas shaping media, entertainment, and culture.

About Me

I have long worked at the nexus of technology, creative media, commerce and community, bringing fans closer to the artists and experiences they love.

Over the course of my career I have worked with, and on behalf of, a variety of entertainment artists and brands to help them grow and shape their relationships with their fans. This work has included producing and executive producing dozens of websites, online events, marketing campaigns, broadcast programs, and music documentaries as well as Grammy- nominated and Clio-winning products. Even a pair of experiential pop-up retail locations for a global music icon.

As a commentator, I have been featured in Rolling Stone, Billboard Magazine, Hollywood Reporter, Wall Street Journal and many others. My speaking and panelist engagements have included repeat appearances at the Billboard Touring Conference, among others. I am a published writer on both business and cultural topics and am involved as a charity board member and volunteer within my community.

My Jazz Story

The first jazz record (um, cassette) I bought was John Coltrane's Africa/Brass when I was 15 or 16 years old. It eluded me. But I stuck with it and revisited it and to this day those sessions are among my favourites. 1961 - 1963 Coltrane represents a peak of Western music to me. I was fortunate to see (and record) McCoy Tyner and Charles Tolliver lead several sets of the music of Africa/Brass several years back at the Blue Note when I was still living in NYC...Herbie Hancock (with my then 16-year-old son) was my first post-pandemic lockdown concert.
