Walter Atkins is a music journalist and awarding winning photographer in the San Francisco Bay Area.

He was a staff photographer and restaurant critic for Seattle’s Jazz NW, The Finer Things, and Big Fun Magazines covering the Pacific Northwest arts,music and entertainment scene. Born in San Francisco, Walter developed an eclectic taste in music. He saw and enjoyed diverse artists like Les McCann, Dizzy Gillespie, Sun Ra, McCoy Tyner, Carlos Santana, Phyllis Hyman, Sly & The Family Stone, Weather Report, Aretha Franklin, Return To Forever, Miles Davis, The Moody Blues, The Chambers Brothers, Confunkshun, Grateful Dead, and many others.

Walter’s photography has been exhibited at SF's Lush Life Gallery and the Joyce Gordon Gallery in downtown Oakland. KCSM-Jazz 91 has featured his work for The Jazz On The Hill concert.
