About the Album

This track is from the 2023 album 'String Rise Azure Traces' by Simon Deeley. It is an atmospheric, evocative track which, will most likely generate reflective thought and imagery in the listener. As the composer Simon Deeley says 'when I was composing the piece the imagery that most often seemed to appear was that of the flowing, effervescent (dancing) lights of the 'Aurora Borealis'. A cinematic picture developed from this depicting, perhaps, a wide-screen scene of a dancer tracing shapes across the background of a flued luminescent 'Aurora' sky. This imagery gave me the idea for how I should title the piece 'Aurora's Dream Waltz' I later decided that it would, further, heighten the atmosphere if I put strings on the track so, strings were added at the beginning and end to complete the track'. The solos on the recording are from Simon Deeley (piano) and James Kilby Chadwick (guitar). The string arrangement is by Sovra Wilson-Dixon.
