About the Album

The mad genius multi-instrumentalist Brandon Seabrook has created his own universe where stringed instruments and electronics join forces to create a sound that is both old-timey and futuristic. On his second solo recording, “Object of Unknown Function,” Seabrook creates a mesmerizing uncategorizable sound out of banjos, all kinds of acoustic and electric guitars, and cassette recordings. It’s been ten years since his last solo venture, the blistering Sylphid Vitalizers, which Noisey hailed as a “dissonant guitar army…(with) mind-blowing prog-rock complexities – all at mind-numbing breakneck speed.” The new album encapsulates a decade of evolution, taking Seabrook’s practice into diverse new directions.
