Larry Marc-Aurele

Live Performances (Partial list) In 1974, Larry Marc-Aurele and Kenny Simmons co-founded Daybreak a top 40 and original band, playing the tri-state area and touring the east coast. Jazz, disco, pop, and funk were all styles mastered by this group. In 1980, Daybreak’s ‘Everybody Get Off’ reached # 65 on Billboard’s Top 100 soul charts. Performed with Daybreak until 1982. From 1982 to 1985 Larry was Tuesday night dance accompanist for Westminster Dance Company, then of Elizabeth, NJ. Currently on call for three orchestras, including Hank Lane Orchestras of NY. Performed with Hank Lane’s 20-piece big band Dec. 12th, 1998 at The Plaza Hotel in Manhattan for Joan Rivers’ daughter Melissa Rivers’ wedding. This event was videotaped, and small segments aired on the Oprah Winfrey Show. Since 2001, he has also been MazzJazz’s first-call percussionist in a group consisting of flute, bass, guitar, and percussion. He is also the percussionist with the Joe Izen Trio. (Joe is a master guitarist/vocalist/composer with 2 videos on YouTube.) Larry also plays as first and fourth Sunday percussionist at Bethel A.M.E Church in Morristown, NJ. In early 2003 he subbed a few classes as dance accompanist at Mason Gross Dance in Rutgers University, and in September 2003, became a regular, accompanying 8 classes per week. He also accompanies 2 dance classes per week for Arts High School and 2 for Montclair State University. Larry has also headed group and private instruction and has created, 4 Elements Of A Latin Rhythm. This is a self study rhythm chart that can stand alone as a learning aid, or be the perfect companion to private or group rhythm study of three of the most important Latin rhythms, the clave, the tumbao, and the cascara, plus basic time. With his heavy focus on 4-way independence, he easily demonstrates these rhythms at once. Larry has also done numerous sessions including 2 for Joe Kurasz' latest jazz CD, 'Soul Searching'. (Joe is a master jazz keyboardist/pianist and composer of music for 'The Guiding Light' TV drama.) Larry has also recorded for producers Patrick Adams and Jesus Alvarez. For Patrick Adams, one of his many sessions was a project for Melba Moore's production compamy Melbaba. Has also done Carolina Rice radio jingles. Larry has 18 more videos on YouTube in addition to ChaCha & six eight (featured below).
