Holzman recorded and toured with Miles Davis from 1985 to 1989 and became his musical director.
On Friday, December 6th, 2024 at 7pm EST, acclaimed keyboardist Adam Holzman (Miles Davis, Steven Wilson) will perform with Jane Getter (guitar—Saturday Night Live Band, Jack McDuff), and Gene Pritsker (Di.J—Matrix Resurrections, Joe Zawinul) at an intimate concert at the Chelsea townhouse of renowned artist and pianist Mark Kostabi (Guns N’ Roses Use Your Illusion, Ramones Adios Amigos, Ornette Coleman). The music will feature acoustic tones from Kostabi’s Steinway D concert grand piano in tandem with frenzied electronic textures.
Holzman has been recognized by Keyboard and DownBeat magazines as a top keyboard player. He recorded and toured with Miles Davis from 1985 to 1989 and became his musical director. Subsequently, he played with Chaka Khan, Wayne Shorter, Grover Washington Jr., and Steps Ahead, as well as his own band: Adam Holzman & Brave New World. For the past ten years, he has performed and recorded with British prog rocker Steven Wilson. He is also the son of the founder of Elektra Records and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Jac Holzman.
In addition to compositions, including many premieres, by each of the musicians as well as host, Dan Cooper will contribute a piece and Robert C. Ford, aka the Wall Street Poet, will narrate his schizophrenic-themed poem “The Piano Keeps Drinking My Wine” as part of Pritsker’s “Awakening Your Inner Schizo”.
The concert is hosted by Composers Concordance, an eclectic concert series, ensemble, record label, and presenting organization with a 40-year history of premiering music that pushes the boundaries of sound and composition.
The concert will be in-person as well as livestreamed on Composers Concordance's Facebook Page.
